Project Coordinator for the UN and Special Assistant, Inter-Orthodox Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations

Ourania Markaki is currently the Project coordinator for the UN and Special Assistant to the Ecumenical Department.

She holds a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges graduating with a double major in International Relations and Economics, a minor in Communications, and a leadership degree that she used to create her own start-up idea. During her college career, she interned within the European Union in Brussels, where she further indulged in European conflicts and human rights. She is interested in navigating complex geopolitical landscapes and building diplomatic bridges focusing on topics of human rights, environmental and social issues, sustainable development, and gender equality.

One of the most fascinating achievement of her volunteering experience is raising funds for migrants in Athens and providing aid for women’s and children first needs. Involved at Syllogos Frontida, a center for kids with special needs, since 2015 she has fostered children that needed temporarily a family, and raised funds for serious operations throughout their lives. Lastly, she is an Ambassador of the Youth Board for the Reunification of the Parthenon marbles, and has an interest in all Greek matters.
