Archbishop Elpidophoros Discusses Expansion of the Roles of Girls and Women in the Church

On Friday, February 2, 2024, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America welcomed Elizabeth Prodromou, PhD, Archons Cary J. Limberakis, DMD, and George E. Demacopoulos, PhD, and Sara Tsugranis to the Archdiocese for a discussion on expanding the role of young girls and women in the Church.

The meeting underscored the significance of engaging girls and women in the Church's life. St. Phoebe Center representatives Dr. Prodromou, Dr. Limberakis, and Sara Tsugranis thanked His Eminence for his instrumental role and blessing for the St. Phoebe Center to host their Ten Year Anniversary Symposium at Hellenic College Holy Cross in November. They credited the Symposium as a catalyst for advancing their work, bringing together a diverse group of participants, clergy and laity, from across the country.

Archbishop Elpidophoros gave his blessing to continue to involve girls and women in liturgical processions and work to expand the presence and visibility of women in the church.

This marked the third meeting discussing women's roles in the Church, following the November 2022 meeting with St. Phoebe Center Chair Dr. Carrie Frederick Frost, Kyra P. Limberakis, MTS, Dr. Limberakis, and Dr. Demacopoulos.
