Maliotis Cultural Center Hosts 10th International Summer University “Greek Language, Culture, and Mass Media”: Spreading and Teaching the Greek Language in the Greek Diaspora in the U.S.A.

The Maliotis Cultural Center (MCC) welcomed and is hosting the 10th International Summer University “Greek Language, Culture, and Mass Media” on its premises this summer, with the special theme:

“Spreading and Teaching the Greek Language in the Greek Diaspora in the U.S.A.”

From May 28 to June 2, 2024, Panhellenic educators, students, and graduate researchers participate in an intensive and in-depth study of various topics that regard the teaching of the Greek language, the particular educational methodology in diaspora schools, the use of new technological teaching aids, the usefulness of mass media, and more. Participants will explore topics including “Addressing Educators’ Language Mistakes”, “Engaging Second- and Third-Generation Greek Students”, and “Promoting partnerships between Greek schools in the States and Greek universities.”

Maliotis Cultural Center is thrilled to collaborate with Professor Tsitsanoudis to expand the reach of this outstanding Greek language teaching program to the United States for the first time ever.

The 10th International Summer University is taking place under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The 10th International Summer University is made possible through the generous sponsorship by the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), under the leadership of its Supreme President, Savas Tsivicos.

As the pre-eminent Hellenic cultural center in not only New England, but in the United States, Maliotis Cultural Center aims to connect academic communities in Greece with colleagues and Philhellenes in the American diaspora. We believe that equipping our Greek-language educators with tools and resources to improve Greek language-teaching in the diaspora is essential to our mission “to promote Hellenic culture and language”.

Whether you are a parochial school educator, Classicist, graduate student, or linguist, we invite you to attend this week-long intensive program designed especially for you by experts in diverse fields.
