March is International Women’s History Month, and it would only be proper to celebrate it by honoring the women of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. We want to showcase the wonderful women who work for our beloved Archdiocese and its Affiliated Institutions this March to celebrate their contributions and the talents they bring to our Church. This first week we present the resilient women of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.

Paulette Geanacopoulos

Position: Director, Department of Social Services for the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society

Paulette Geanacopoulos, LMSW, Director, Department of Social Services for the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society assists Orthodox Christians across the USA to address and resolve, as best as possible, the human service and financial challenges they face.  She co-leads nationwide Caregiver Support Groups, provides training to Philoptochos affiliates to support their social service efforts, and collaborates with GOA ministries focusing on various societal issues. Previously, Paulette held roles in government and nonprofits serving vulnerable populations. She has taught Social Welfare Policy at Fordham University, CUNY/Hunter College, and NYU, has served on the boards of nonprofits in NY and NJ, and has written publications distributed within and outside the Greek American community. Her home parish is the Cathedral of St. John the Theologian, Tenafly, NJ. 

What is the role of faith in my life? 

My faith drives me to work towards a just and fair society that treats everyone with dignity and respect and understands the need to help those who are unable to provide for themselves.
