The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Salesians of Don Bosco’s Statement to the United Nations 60th Commission on the Status of Women officially accepted

NEW YORK – After extensive review, the Statement submitted by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and the Salesians of Don Bosco to the Sixtieth Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) was officially accepted on March 2, 2016. The Statement focuses on gender equality in the workplace and in society at large, and highlights the Orthodox Church’s commitment to the eradication of discrimination.

UN Women has accepted the statement as an official document of the Commission, and it has been received by the UN Secretary-General, Member States, and all participants in advance of the negotiation process for the outcome document of the Commission. This year’s document will focus on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
