St. Basil Academy And 'Smile of A Child' To Forge New Ties

New York, NY – On Tuesday, November 9th at St. Basil Academy in Garrison, NY, official ceremonies will mark a new relationship of the Academy with the “Smile of a Child” organization in Greece.

According to Father Costas Sitaras, Executive Director, St. Basil Academy, a philanthropic center of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America for orphaned and needy children, has agreed to become a “Sister Organization” with The Smile of A Child, an independent philanthropic organization that addresses the growing needs of the homeless and often orphaned children of Athens.

A special Aghiasmos (Blessing) Service beginning at 2 p.m. at the Academy with His Grace Bishop Philotheos of Meloa presiding will mark the occasion. Attending the ceremony from Athens will be Mr. Costa Yiannopoulos, General Secretary and Mr. John Lambropoulos, Treasurer of The Smile of the Child.
