Holy Cross School of Theology’s ThM Program Earns Coveted Spot on Forbes’ List of Top One-Year Online Master’s Programs

Brookline, MA (April 17, 2024): – Holy Cross School of Theology is thrilled to announce that its Master of Theology Degree (ThM) program has been recognized by Forbes as one of the top one-year online master’s programs in high-impact fields. This prestigious accolade underscores the school’s commitment to delivering exceptional theological education that is both accessible and academically rigorous.

Initiated in 2022 under the visionary leadership of Rev. Dr. Eugen J. Pentiuc, Dean of Holy Cross School of Theology, and the esteemed faculty, the ThM Online Program was designed to provide advanced, research-oriented theological education for students worldwide, regardless of their residence. The Program was led by Fr. Eugen, who previously served as the ThM Program Director and authored the proposal for the Online (Asynchronous) Program, which received approval from both the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The ThM Online features a robust curriculum with a thesis component, building upon foundational graduate-level degrees such as the MDiv or the MTS.

Dean Fr. Eugen J. Pentiuc notes, “We are incredibly honored and proud to receive this recognition from Forbes. This achievement is a testimony to the dedication and hard work of our faculty, staff, and students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship and commitment to theological inquiry.”

In reflecting on the evolving landscape of faith-sharing in our dynamic world, Rev. Dr. George Parsenios, the current ThM Program Director admits, “We are the bearers of an ancient tradition, but the mechanisms and techniques that we use to share our faith must adapt to an ever-changing world. We are working hard to respond to this reality, and we are honored to see that our efforts are being recognized.”

This acknowledgment reaffirms the school’s significant role in theological education, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to the Church and the world. “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this remarkable achievement,” – says Dr. Demetrios S. Katos, the President of HCHC. “Let us continue to strive for excellence as we work together to advance theological scholarship and serve the needs of our communities.”
