Department of Greek Education Celebrates Greek Independence Day

The Department of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America invites you to our Greek Independence Day celebration on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Hellenic Cultural Center located at 27-09 Crescent St. Astoria N.Y.

Greek school students from around the District will be making presentations to celebrate Greek Independence Day and the Feast Day of the Annunciation of the Theotokos. Keynote speaker Fr. Gregory Stamkopoulos Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne will speak on the “National Consciousness and Greek Education During the Years of Turkish Occupation.”

The program will include performances of national dances, songs, poems, and presentations of historical events from the period of the revolution. Performing this evening will also be the Archdiocesan children’s choir.
