Fanari Camp Celebrates 50 Years!
On Sunday, October 9, 2022, nearly 450 campers, staff and friends gathered to celebrate FIFTY years of their beloved Fanari Camp. Through the efforts of the 50th Anniversary committee and the support of many sponsors, donors and those who attended, it was an amazing evening. With its unique casual and open seating, there was plenty of room and time for mingling and catching up with old friends. What a wonderful sight to see parents (former campers) attending with their children, so each could see friends from their own camping experience. There must have been a 60-year age span of attendees, from the oldest to the youngest, acting as a testament to the 50 years of faith, fun and friendships that are a part of Fanari Camp.
Amidst the conversations, dancing, enjoyment of the various buffet stations, photo booths and the pop-up “camp store” – a brief program was offered honoring those from the past and in the present. Fr. William S. Chiganos, of blessed memory, was remembered as the visionary of Fanari Camp who set the strong, Christ-centered foundation on which Fanari Camp was built and continues to flourish. Past and current directors, co-directors and key staff members were also recognized along with some reflections from staff members representing the fifty-year time span.
Fanari Camp is grateful for all those who attended and supported this wonderful event. While it was great having nearly 450 in attendance, it is better knowing that this program has touched the lives of thousands of young people over its fifty years. Through the vision and hard work of those from the beginning to the present, Fanari Camp hopes to continue being a beacon of light to our young people, bringing them closer to Christ and His Church.
