Educational Workshops Presented July 2 at the 2024 Clergy-Laity Congress

“Securing Our Parishes: Physical and Cyber Security” – presented by Theo Nicolakis in partnership with the US Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, this session will discuss both physical and cyber-security best practices for parishes. 

“Creating a Singing Parish” - presented by Dr. Vicki Pappas and Ms. Barbara Minton, this workshop will share ideas for building a parish program of church music that extends beyond the choir and the chanters.

“ ‘And all the People’: The Liturgical Ministry of the Laity in St. Maximos the Confessor’s Ecclesiastical Mystagogy”, presented by Rev. Lucas Lynn Christensen, will explore the role of the laity in Orthodox Christian worship and how St. Maximos’ vision can form the full, active, conscious liturgical ministry of the laity today.

“Who is the Psaltis? Why Do We Need Him? What is His Role?”, presented by Archon Music Instructor Georgios Theodoridis, will review the role of the Psaltis (cantor) in the church today.

“How to Get Started in Prison Ministry with Orthodox Christian Prison Ministry”, presented by Very Rev. Fr. Stephen Powley, Nicholas Petrogeorge, and Mark Santana, will discuss how you may begin or further your local prison ministry, through the training and ongoing support or OCPM.
