Doxology of Thanksgiving Ahead of Investiture of New USC President

On the eve of the Investiture Ceremony of the University of South Carolina's new president, Dr. Michael Ameridis, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros celebrated a Doxology Service at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Columbia, SC.

"What makes this Doxology of Thanksgiving to God so very special today, is that you – the Parish of the Holy Trinity – are welcoming back the Amiridis family into your midst, as Michael is officially invested with this prestigious role in the university that has become part of his family through the decades," His Eminence said. "You, the wider Greek Orthodox community of Columbia, are very blessed to have him once again in your company. And he and his family are blessed to have you as well." (Full Remarks)

Her Excellency Ambassador of Greece to the United States Alexandra Papadopoulou, as well as the parish's Rev. Presbyter Chrysostom Mitchell offered remarks for the occasion.

At the luncheon that followed, Dr. Ameridis addressed the community himself, joined by former USC President Dr. Harris Pastides, Philoptochos Society President Victoria Onufrik, Parish Council Vice President Lee Tsiantis, and parishioner Dr. Maria Kratsios.

The Investiture Ceremony will commence at 10:00 AM tomorrow, January 20, 2023.
