Department of Greek Education Announces the Launch of Online Learning Tool StaEllinika 

New York – The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of Education is pleased to announce the launch of StaEllinika, a Greek Language learning platform, available to schools and language programs of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The Program is developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs of Greece and the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. 

StaEllinika is an online platform and suite of apps designed by experts to teach the Modern Greek language to learners in the Diaspora. The program is available now and already in use in the United States of America, specifically in in California, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey and is under the supervision of Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis, Director of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, in coordination with the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies at SFU. 

The program includes instructional resources and support for teachers working in online learning environments and is at the beginning stages with a full release in fall 2020 that will support communities, schools, and individual learners throughout country.  Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis commenting on this program states, “I am excited by this opportunity to support Greek schools in the diaspora with new solutions for education under the current challenging conditions and I look forward to this collaboration.
