Committee Convenes

The organizing committee for the 47th Biennial Clergy-Laity Congress of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America convened its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. This significant gathering marks a pivotal step in preparing for the upcoming Congress, scheduled to take place in the picturesque city of San Diego, California, from June 30 to July 4, 2024. The gracious host for this event is the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco.

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America expressed his enthusiasm for the forthcoming Congress stating, "Every Clergy-Laity Congress is a cherished occasion for our Greek Orthodox community, offering us a unique opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together on our spiritual journey. I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco for graciously hosting this magnificent event once again. I eagerly anticipate being with everyone in San Diego, where we will unite in prayer, celebrate our rich heritage, and engage in meaningful discussions about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."

The Co-Chairs of the Clergy-Laity Congress are Archon Isidoros and Maria Garifalakis, along with Archon Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas. The organizing committee comprises dedicated individuals from both the Metropolis of San Francisco and the Archdiocese, all of whom are deeply committed to ensuring the success of this event. Over the upcoming months, they will dedicate their efforts to meticulously plan a Congress that authentically represents the values and aspirations of our Greek Orthodox community, bringing to the forefront the Congress theme, “In Christ, We Are One.”
