Celebrating the 42nd Anniversary of the Dedication of St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine

Pilgrimage St. Augustine, FL –Archon Anthony W. Megas, VP of the St. Photios Foundation, invites the public to join the trustees of the governing body of St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine to attend ecclesiastical services, the opening of the 2024 Special Shrine Exhibit and the Pilgrimage Banquet on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown St. Augustine, FL.

Special guest, Bishop Sevastianos of Zelon, who will be visiting the area for the NE FL district meeting, will assist Metropolitan Dimitrios of Xanthos throughout the day.

The St. Photios Foundation annual meeting will convene at 2:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel on 6 Castillo Drive. Located just three short blocks from the Shrine, the trustees will then attend the Hierarchal Great Vespers and Founders’ Memorial at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Photios.

Metropolitan Dimitrios of Xanthos will bless the Wall of Tribute and preside over the ribbon-cutting of the 2024 museum exhibit, Athenagoras, Archbishop of North and South America and Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, 1931-1972.

The 42nd Annual Pilgrimage Banquet will begin at 7:00 p.m. Archon Nicholas Furris of Spectrum Films will emcee this auspicious event. Dr. James C. Skedros, editor of The Greek Orthodox Theological Review, will give the keynote address - “Archbishop Athenagoras of America, 1931-1949: His Legacy Today". The Saint Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine is a living memorial to the first Greek settlers on the American continent and to all the Greek Orthodox pioneers whose love of freedom and desire for a better life for themselves and their children brought them to this New World.
