The Divine Liturgy Illustrated (ages 5-10) is a publication from the Department of Religious Education (DRE) of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. It contains the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom in Greek and English, according to the current 2015 translation developed by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, approved by the Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese, and by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
Revised in 2021, with updated illustrations and explanatory notes, this book helps children follow the Divine Liturgy prayerfully while keeping them engaged and focused.
NEW PUBLICATION: THE ORTHODOX YOUTH DIVINE LITURGY HANDBOOK
The Orthodox Youth Divine Liturgy Handbook (ages 8-12) is a new publication written by Father Aristidis Garinis of Flushing, NY, with illustrations by Dionysios Bouloubassis. This book was produced to further engage our Orthodox youth during the Divine Liturgy.
Filled with helpful illustrations and brief descriptions, it approaches the Liturgy like a visual journey. At each meaningful moment, the illustrated Priest, which is the book's personal guide, tells the reader where they are heading. After the Divine Liturgy, the guide continues to teach, answering commonly asked questions by children about Church and Liturgy.
About the author:
Fr. Aristidis Garinis is the assistant Priest at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Flushing, NY, and a graduate of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. He is serving at one of the largest communities in the country. While his work as a priest encompasses all aspects of ministry, he has a special emphasis on youth ministry, working with the 400 students of the St. Nicholas William Spyropoulos Day School and the various youth programs of the parish.
Both books are great additions to church pews and can be used as instructional tools for Sunday School lessons about the Divine Liturgy. Perfect gifts for godparents to give their godchildren or for parents to bring to church so their children can follow along.
