Archdiocese supports the earthquake striken Kefalonia and a day-care center for children in Cyprus

NEW YORK – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America has sent on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America $25,000 of financial assistance to the Holy Metropolis of Kefalonia, for the relief of those adversely affected by the catastrophic earthquakes of Jan. 26 and Feb. 3, 2014 and the many aftershocks that still continue on the island. In his letter to Metropolitan Spyridon of Kefalonia, the Archbishop states that the financial assistance is the product of love and care of the parishes and the faithful of the Holy Archdiocese of America.

Additionally, Archbishop Demetrios sent a check for $25,000, from the Relief Fund for the People of Cyprus, to the Council of Community Volunteers of the half-occupied municipality of Agios Dometiosi Cyprus, to support the nursery and toddler day-care center of the area, which provides essential services to 80 children.
