New York, NY - His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios will meet with the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Spyros Kyprianou on Wednesday, September 6th, 2000, at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
Mr. Kyprianou is in New York City taking part at the Interparliamentary Unions Conference for the Presiding Officers of National Parliaments, held at the United Nations Headquarters.
In 1977, after the passing away of Archbishop Makarios, Mr. Kyprianou served as Acting President of the Republic of Cyprus. He was re-elected in 1978 and in 1983. Following the 1996, parliamentary elections, Mr. Kyprianou became President of the House of Representatives.
