New York, NY- Today, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, warmly received the Mayor of Athens, Demetrios Avramopoulos at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.
During their meeting, Mr. Avramopoulos assured His Eminence of his unlimited support of the Archbishops enthusiastic endeavors in strengthening the bonds of Orthodoxy and Hellenism in America.
In an exchange of gifts, the Mayor of Athens presented Archbishop Demetrios with a silver bowl bearing the emblem of Athens, and His Eminence presented Mr. Avramopoulos with a historical book on the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The meeting concluded with a brief question and answer session with the media.
