NEW YORK – According to a report by the Associated Press and numerous reports appearing in other news outlets, the group of nuns that had been abducted by Syrian rebels back in late November or December 2013, were freed today, Sunday, March, 9, 2014. The nuns were reportedly abducted from the St. Thekla Greek Orthodox Monastery near the village of Maaloula -about 40 miles west of Damascus, Syria.

CNN reports on its website that “thirteen nuns and three workers kidnapped in late November from a Greek Orthodox monastery in Syria were freed Sunday,” and sites “a pro-Syrian government news network and Lebanese state media” for its report.
