Women's History Month Highlight: Eva Konstantakos, Archdiocese Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries (Y2AM) for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

March is International Women’s History Month, and it would only be proper to celebrate it by honoring the women of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. We want to showcase the wonderful women who work for our beloved Archdiocese and its Affiliated Institutions this March to celebrate their contributions and the talents they bring to our Church. This week, we present the resilient women of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

Eva Konstantakos

Position: Archdiocese Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries (Y2AM) for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

As a proud graduate of the Holy Cross School of Theology in 2003, I have dedicated nearly two decades of my life to serving the Metropolis of Detroit as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries from 2003 to 2022. It has been a blessing and privilege to work alongside our vibrant Orthodox Christian communities, clergy and lay leadership alike, nurturing the spiritual growth and development of our youth and young adults.

In 2022, I was honored to make history as the first woman appointed to the position of Archdiocese Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. This milestone represents not only a personal achievement, but also a significant step forward in our ongoing commitment to the increased inclusivity of women in ministry.

With gratitude for the opportunities that have shaped my journey thus far, I am excited to continue serving our faith community and empowering the next generation to embrace their spiritual heritage and make meaningful contributions to our shared mission.

What is the role of faith in your life?

My faith serves as an anchor, keeping me rooted in gratitude during periods of great joy and accomplishment. Simultaneously, it offers fortitude and resilience in moments of profound struggle or failure. The guiding tenet of Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," bolsters my steadfast belief. At the very essence of my existence, I am dedicated to serving Christ and cultivating His vineyard, utilizing the unique gifts entrusted to me.
