Volunteer as a Chapel Docent at the St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine

Would you like to volunteer at the Chapel of St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine?

St. Photios is always looking for passionate, enthusiastic docents to join their team.

A St. Photios National Shrine Chapel Docent is a witness to Orthodoxy. The docent helps visitors learn about and connect with Orthodoxy through its Church history and art. Docents share stories and information with museum patrons through use of the Chapel Iconography and the special informative brochure. A docent shares the stories of the lives of the saints and relays information about the relics of St. Photios and more. Docents are stewards of the Chapel.

Docents are asked to work a minimum of one three-hour shift each month (see shift options below). In addition, they are expected to learn as much as possible about the icons specific to this chapel.

Good health and stamina are essential, as docents are continually on their feet. Docents should show genuine love to people and enjoy teaching patrons of all ages. Consistent shift attendance is essential.

Sunday through Saturday shifts:

Shift One – 11:00 –2:00 p.m.

Shift Two - 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.
