Parathosi 2020 Dance Festival Celebrating Hellenic Culture and Heritage

January 8, 2020

NEW YORK - The 8th annual celebration of Hellenic Heritage & Dance, PARATHOSI 2020, of the Direct Archdiocesan District of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, will take place on Saturday January 11th, 2020 at the Long Island Marriott in Uniondale, NY.

PARATHOSI is an important youth ministry of our Archdiocese that promotes our Heritage and Culture.  Our parishes, and the Omogeneia in general, continue to support the Dance Festival as it grows and expands.  We hope that it will bring our youth together and provide a platform to showcase their talents and pride in traditional Greek dancing.

PARATHOSI is open to groups from the Metropolises of the Archdiocese and groups from the Greek-American Community and associations representing various regions of Greece.  The festival is organized by division, according to age.  Division 4 is for children up to 8 years old and their dance performances are not judged in competition.  Division 3 is for children 9-11 years of age; Division 2 is for youths 12-14 years of age; Division 1 is for teenagers 15-17. Young adults 18 and over will compete in the senior division.

Following a full day of dance competition the winners will be announced and presented with trophies during the Awards Glendi Dinner Dance, which will take place at the Long Island Marriott. Yianni Papastefanou Orchestra will provide the entertainment for a wonderful night of dancing and fellowship.
