The Metropolis of San Francisco has been on the forefront of Missions & Evangelism, having formed the Commission for Orthodox Missions and Evangelism (C.O.M.E.) in 1991 under the leadership of Metropolitan Anthony of blessed memory. This ministry has been embraced and supported wholeheartedly by Metropolitan Gerasimos as his presence and participation in all three days of the conference indicate. His opening remarks stress the importance of the Conference and the need to encourage and implement the ministries of missions and evangelism.
