One Gateway City Volunteer's Love of Service Becomes a Way for Her to Love Others

Nagla started volunteering with FOCUS in St. Louis in 2009. She still remembers the day the FOCUS director came to her church. When I asked her why she decided to volunteer she said, “Because I like to serve.”

Nagla is a doctor and treats the underserved in her area. She wanted to reach out to others outside her church and to meet other Orthodox people. When describing her experience with FOCUS she says she’s grown a lot. It’s been exciting for her to be the one leading others to serve and seeing them find the joy of serving. The fellowship of serving side by side with church members is important to her too.

She encourages others to go out of their comfort zone and try serving at a Focus supper. To those that are hesitant she says, “Just try it. You might like it!”
