Invocation at the Investitures of

Associate Judges Singas, Cannataro and Troutman

New York State Court of Appeals

INVOCATION

May we bow our heads in prayer:

        

In the Name of God, Who asks only that we do justly,

and practice love and mercy, compassion and understanding,

we give thanks and praise to You for gathering us here today

in order to invest these three Pillars of the Law:

Judge Singas, Judge Cannataro, and Judge Troutman.

 

We ask that You grant them Your special grace and wisdom,

as You so blessed the Wise King Solomon. [1]

We ask that You inspire them to wakefulness

for the people of this Great State of New York,

as You so inspired the Judge of Israel, Deborah.[2]

And we ask that You grant them the strength of Sampson the Judge, so that they may persevere in justice and righteousness

all the days of their service to the People.

 

Bless these three Judges, O Holy One,

and all who serve on the Bench of this Court of Appeals,

so that they may ever render wholesome and right judgments

for all the citizenry.

 

And so, we render glory, reverence and honor to You,

Who are the Source and Foundation of the Law.
