HCHC Offers Online Master of Theological Studies Degree

Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology has received approval by the New England Commission of Higher Education to offer the Master of Theological Studies (MTS) degree online as well as on campus beginning this September. This is the School of Theology's second online degree offering, following approval in March 2022 of an online Master of Theology (ThM) program. Thanks to these programs, the reach of our graduate school is now truly global, allowing students to pursue advanced theological studies from anywhere in the world.
Rev. Dr. George Parsenios, Dean of Holy Cross, says, "We are delighted that we can share our educational offerings with a whole new population of students who want to study theology at a serious level, but whose life circumstances do not permit them to move to Brookline. While our MDiv degree will always need to be offered in person, since the training of priests involves more than just classroom instruction, we are very happy to share our MTS and ThM programs with an ever-growing pool of interested students."
The fully asynchronous online MTS program is comprised of 16 three-credit courses, eight required, four in a chosen concentration, and four open electives. Students complete their degree requirements in the final semester by writing an integrative academic essay. The program is designed primarily for Orthodox Christians of all jurisdictions, both clergy and lay, male and female, but is open to all qualified applicants interested in deepening their understanding of Orthodox theology.
Applications are now being accepted for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024. To learn more, go to:
