8th National Leadership 100 Sunday Observation

Archbishop Demetrios recently issued an encyclical on behalf of the Holy Eparchial Synod commemorating the eighth observance of National Leadership 100 Sunday on Oct. 23, the actual feast day of St. Iakovos. It was designated in 2009 in honor of Archbishop Iakovos, founder of Leadership 100, to be observed on the Sunday nearest the feast day.

Leadership 100 Trustees coordinate with parish priests to develop awareness of the support for the critical ministries of the Archdiocese and for all Metropolises ministries. Leadership 100 Chairman George S. Tsandikos named Theodore K. Zampetis of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., a Leadership 100 Executive Committee member, as 2016 chairman for the observance.

He serves in that role for the fifth consecutive year. Zampetis also serves as chairman of the National Membership Committee. “National Leadership 100 Sunday continues to be a national day of recognition for the role of Leadership 100 in our Church and our Community, generating support attracting new members from across the country,” Tsandikos said.

Leadership 100 has now reached a milestone of 1,000 members from a broad spectrum of Greek Orthodox leaders, men and women of all ages from every field of endeavor, including young professionals.

Over the 32 years since its founding, Leadership 100 has distributed close to $46 million in grants to support the National Ministries and institutions of the Archdiocese and the Metropolises, advancing Orthodoxy and Hellenism and meeting human need in the nation and around the world.
