Center for Family Care to Host National Conference:
Pastoral Challenges in Marriage - Chronos & Kairos
Houston, Texas - January 22-25, 2020
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven … a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance … a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; … a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-6).
Utilizing the expertise of leaders in the field of pastoral care and marriage, the purpose of this conference is to inspire and equip those in the front lines of ministry with tools and resources to effectively serve the pastoral challenges of marriage they encounter. In addition to keynote presentations and workshops, the conference will offer participants opportunities for formal and informal interaction. It is our hope that they will leave the conference with a network of people to support them in their ministry. The conference is hosted by the Center for Family Care of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in collaboration with the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, Texas.
The theme of the conference will focus on the seasons of marriage through the lens of Kairos and Chronos time. A keynote will anchor each day of the conference to explore this theme through different lenses. Keynote speakers will be Dn. Michael and Gail Hyatt, Dn. Stephen Muse, PhD, and Carrie Fredrick Frost, PhD. Workshops and an interactive intensive activity will further round out the conference.
The conference is open to clergy, seminarians, pastoral care workers, professional counselors, ministry leaders, and all who minister to Orthodox Christian couples.
