Greek Independence Day Celebrated at the White House

Yesterday, April 4, 2024, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, and members of the Greek American community were warmly welcomed to the White House by President Joe Biden for a celebration marking the 203rd Anniversary of Greek Independence. The distinct recognition by the White House has been an honored tradition since 1987.

Columbus Sends Mission Team to Alabama

A team of 16 high school-aged kids and five adults from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus spent a week in Bayou La Batre, AL acting as the hands and feet of Christ in service to an impoverished community.

Included in their work: home cleaning and painting, school cleaning and painting, visiting a convalescent home, hosting a daily kids camp, serving meals and much more. The Annunciation team was joined in their work by St. Peter’s Episcopalian Church from Amelia Island, FL.

On their way to Alabama, the team was hosted for Divine Liturgy by Holy Trinity Church in Nashville, TN and visited for a compline service by Fr. Elias Stevens from Annunciation Church in Mobile, AL.
