Church of Our Saviour, Rye, NY Holds Fundraisers

Over the final weekend of February, the Ladies Philoptochos Society hosted an estate sale and Greek Bakaliko fundraiser to benefit the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Saviour and surrounding communities.

It was wonderful to see the community buzzing again (while adhering to COVD guidelines and precautions) as they worked together to host an estate sale and Greek Market fundraiser. From artwork, to furniture, china, home goods, collectibles, linens, and much more, there was something for everyone. But the most popular of all was the Greek Market, which they hope to make a regular event. The Greek Market was not only intended as a fundraiser, but also as a convenience for those in our community who cannot easily travel to Astoria for Greek food products during the pandemic, and for those who want to save time and tolls.

The community is thankfull to everyone who donated items and volunteered their time. Both the estate sale and the Greek Market were financially successful and provided the community an opportunity to be together again.  The church, under the leadership and guidance of their parish priest, Father Elias Villis, will present a check representing a portion of the proceeds to two local charities, The Don Bosco Center in Port Chester and 914Cares. And in keeping with the Philoptochos spirit, items not sold at the estate sale were donated to the Vietnam Veterans Association and Mt. Vernon Boys and Girls Club.
