On Saturday, February 25, 2023 the Metropolis of New Jersey, with the blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, held an Altar Server Retreat for the Acolytes of the Northern New Jersey Region at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park (Ocean), New Jersey. This Altar Server Retreat brought together over 30 young men from throughout the region for a beautiful day of faith and fellowship with one another. The day began with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the 2nd Saturday of Souls celebrated by His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia. Following the Liturgy, His Grace serving as the Retreat Master spoke with the Acolytes on the importance of their role as Alter Servers, offered them instruction on the Divine Services, and taught them about them the significance of the Liturgical items found within the Holy Altar. The Altar Server Retreat was organized by the Metropolis Youth Director, the Rev. Dn. Konstantinos Loukas, together with the Proistamenos, the Rev. Protopresbyter Andrew Eugenis, and the Rev. Dn. Emmanuel Tsarnas. Following the community provided a delicious lunch for all the participants.
