Pastoral Visit to Boca Raton Concludes with Meetings with the Faithful

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America continued his visit in Boca Raton, FL, meeting with the Executive Board of the Saint Mark Philoptochos for a breakfast. The Philoptochos President, Barbara Tasiounis, along with the First Vice President of the National Philoptochos, Anita Kartalopoulos, spoke about the wonderful ministries and organizations supported by their Chapter. His Eminence learned that over $65,000 has been distributed to needy charities and organizations, along with $6,000 to the Sissitio Outreach in Constantinople earlier this year.
 
Following the breakfast, the District area Clergy of South Florida gathered for an audience with His Eminence, where they shared an open and frank discussion on the life of the Archdiocese. They heard of the Archbishop’s vision for the new Charter and the Archdiocese, and together, shared dialogue on various pastoral concerns. Those present were the Rev. Protopresbyter and Vicar Spiro Bobotas, Rev. Protopresbyter Andrew Maginas, Rev. Economos John Vernikos, Rev. Presbyter Peter Zougras, Rev. Presbyter Aristides Arizi, Rev. Presbyter Alexander Kamilaris and the host priest, Rev. Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne Mark Leondis. The Saint MarksMEN, the local parish men’s ministry, assisted with the details of the day. Following the audience, His Eminence departed Florida for Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.
