Bishop Apostolos at Baltimore's Greektown for 74th Anniversary of Unification of Dodecanese Islands with Greece

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia, representing His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, visited the St. Nicholas Community in Baltimore's Greektown, as the parish hosted a Doxology and Celebration in commemoration of the 74th Anniversary of the Unification of the Dodecanese Islands with Greece. Over 400 Greek Americans filled the Greektown Plateia for a wonderful program of music, poems and traditional Greek dancing offered by the youth of the parish and the youth of the area Carpathian and Rhodian Societies. Dignitaries for this celebration of unification and freedom for the Dodecanese Islands included Congressman Gus Biliarakis, who offered the Keynote Address, Her Excellency Mrs. Alexandra Papadopoulou, the Ambassador of Greece to the United States, Congressman John Sarbanes and representatives of the Greek and Cypriot Military. A special thanks is offered to Mr. George Comninos of Baltimore for his tremendous efforts in organizing this beautiful event together with the invaluable assistance of the St. Nicholas Community under the leadership of the Rev. Michael Pastrikos.
