Archdiocesan District Youth Office Presents 2022 Altar Boy Retreat at Hellenic College Holy Cross

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the Archdiocesan District Youth Office presented the 2022 Altar Boy Retreat from October 28 - 30 at Hellenic College Holy Cross, in Brookline, MA. Led by Rev. Economos Demetrios Kazakis and District Youth Director Dino Pantelias, 32 altar servers from 10 parishes across New York and Connecticut joined to explore the theme of "Inspiring a Life of Service." Participants were accompanied to Holy Cross by Rev. Protopresbyter Constantine Lazarakis, Rev. Fr. Lou Nicholas, and six parish lay leaders.

At the School, the Office of the President, including Chief of Staff Fr. Patrick O'Rourke, as well as the Enrollment Team and Holy Cross Chapel Chaplain V. Rev. Archimandrite Bartholomew Mercado, welcomes the altar servers to campus. There, the group participated in discussions, break-out sessions, and presentations led by campus clergy, seminarians, and professors. Three sessions on the theme of Dedication and Service were led by seminarians Kamal Hourani, Elias Pagones, and Alex Karcher.  Off campus, they also toured Boston and visited the Massachusetts State House, Freedom Trail, and Quincy Market with Faneuil Hall.

With thanks for the inspiration from His Eminence and the generous hospitality of Holy Cross, the Youth Office hopes to plan additional retreats in the near future.
