Feast of the Annunciation at Chicago Cathedral

Chicago--Resounding with the melody of its festal hymn and filled with the faithful of every age, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Chicago celebrated its patronal feast on the morning of Friday March 25, 2022. Together with Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago, Metropolis Chancellor Bishop Timothy of Hexamilion, and local clergymen, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America celebrated the Divine Liturgy. After the doxology of Greek Independence Day, Emanuel Koubarakis, Consul General and diplomatic representative of the Hellenic Republic in Chicago, conveyed a message to Chicago’s Greek-American community on behalf of Greece’s President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou. At the conclusion of the services, Archbishop Elpidophoros elevated Father Stamatios Sfikas, the Cathedral Dean, to the priestly rank of Economos of the Archdiocese of America.
