The Department of Greek Education is charged with the responsibility of assisting parishes in establishing and sustaining a Greek studies program that comprises the teaching of the Modern Greek language and the Greek history and culture, as well as the teaching of the Greek Orthodox faith and worship.

To enhance the Greek studies programs of the parochial day, the afternoon and Saturday Greek schools as well as to facilitate the work of the teachers, the Department of Greek Education provides the community schools with:
- Teacher Seminars and Workshops
- Books and Audio/Visual Materials
The New Text Books “Ta Ellinika mou”
The series of books of Greek language instruction titled “Τα Ελληνικά μου” has been published by the Department of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese with the guidance and blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America.
These books are offered to the students of the Archdiocese’s Greek Community schools in each Metropolis from 1st grade – 8th or 9th.
The series will be completed for all grades by the summer of 2014.
Teacher’s manuals are, also, available for each book with instructions on their use.
Additionally, a set of privately funded books for Kindergarten was published the summer of 2013 and is being used for the second consecutive year by a great number of Greek schools. These books are available for purchase at a cost effective price.
A set of privately funded books for the Pre-K was published the summer of 2014 and is also available for purchase at a cost effective price.
Also, two sets of posters are available at a costing price, one for the beginners and a second set with conjugated verbs for the other classes.
