Virtual Summer Camp 2021
Summer Camp. Just those two words brings back memories of time together at Saint Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center. Bonding with old and new friends in your cabin, singing around the campfire, arts and crafts, archery, canoeing at the lake and praying together are just some of the special activities that have made Summer Camp in the Metropolis of San Francisco one of its most beloved programs.
After careful review and consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, especially in the County of Fresno, CA, the difficult but necessary decision was made by the Saint Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center Board of Directors that it was in the best interest of the safety and wellbeing of the youth of the Metropolis, that Summer Camp 2021 will again be offered as a virtual program.

Virtual camp is not the same as in-person, but the Summer Camp Management team, under the leadership of Johanna Duterte Carter, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, have created another interactive, immersive and exciting program. A similar program was offered in the summer of 2020 to rave reviews from campers and parents. All youth ages 8 – 18 (including recent high school graduates) can register now for this two week program which will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 19 – 30, 2021. Activities will include daily cabin talks, prayer services, arts and crafts, cooking classes, evening activities and more! Participants will receive a camper box in the mail with supplies, camp gear and a few surprises. Be sure to register soon so you don’t miss out on this great opportunity for summer fun!

There are still limited spots available for Summer Camp staff members, so if you are over the age of 19 and want to be considered, please apply today! It takes an enthusiastic team to make this a meaningful experience for the campers, and it is rewarding for all involved.
Regional Day Camps
The Metropolis Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is also working with local parishes in various regions in the Metropolis of San Francisco to assist in planning in-person day camps and activities, as allowed by the local guidelines. If your parish would like additional information or assistance in planning a day-camp program, please contact Johanna Duterte Carter, Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
Coming Up Soon
Plans are being developed for in-person overnight camps and retreats to resume this fall. More details will be forthcoming as they are finalized.
