Personally Thanking Church Musicians

Personally Thanking Church Musicians

The Federation of Greek Orthodox Church Musicians, a Ministry of the Chicago Metropolis, is going the extra mile - literally - in thanking its chanters and choir members.

On March 1, 2022, Federation President Ruth E. Faklis began an ambitious goal  to visit every church within the Metropolis that has a choir and to personally thank the dedicated and talented members of the ministry.  The Covid pandemic caused choirs across the country to take a step back in service to their churches.  Now that they are back in their choir lofts, we realized how much their participation in the Divine Liturgy was missed.

In the past five weeks choirs in three states have been visited: Minneapolis, Rochester, St. Paul, Joliet, Oak Lawn and Hammond.  During the visit each musician is presented with a tote bag that includes information on the Federation including upcoming exciting offerings such as planned Flashchoirs, scholarship opportunities and the annual Conference dates (Sept. 16-18/St. Nicholas, Oak Lawn, IL).  This photo of Federation President Ruth E. Faklis, His Eminence Nathanael  and National Forum Chairman Nick Chimitris was taken on such a visit to the St. Demetrios Church in Hammond, Indiana.
