His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended the Metropolis of New Jersey Clergy Laity Assembly and Philoptochos Convention hosted by His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey. The meetings were held on April 9, 2024 at The Waterfall in Claymont, Delaware with almost 300 participants attending. 

Both the Clergy Laity delegates and Philoptochos delegates were welcomed with remarks by Metropolitan Apostolos who thanked all of the participants for their continuous service to the Metropolis and for their prayers.  

Archbishop Elpidophoros thanked Metropolitan Apostolos for his warm greetings and for bringing together the faithful of the Metropolis together to deliberate the ministries of the Metropolis. The Archbishop also commented on the thriving ministries and leadership of Metropolitan Apostolos, remarking “Once again we are assembled for the Clergy Laity Assembly of the Holy Metropolis of New Jersey, and we convene with your new Metropolitan, His Eminence Apostolos. As you all know, his elevation to the Office of Metropolitan did not suddenly bring him into your lives. He served here with distinction and true pastoral ministry as an Assistant Bishop. Now, he assumes all the responsibilities for your spiritual welfare. And it is very evident to me that my dear brother in the Holy Spirit has undertaken his Hierarchical duties with full force in this wonderful Metropolis. Your programs and parishes are thriving, and you are all deeply engaged with our communal journey of the Holy Lent, despite the events of last week.” 

Following welcome remarks, the Philoptochos held their meeting, presided over by Metropolis President Eleni Constantinides while the Clergy Laity Assembly met to hear various reports from Metropolis representatives.
