Family Ministry Conference to be held September 20-23, 2017 in Pittsburgh

“As the Father has sent me, I also send you.” – John 20:21

NEW YORK – The Center for Family Care of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese will host its second family ministry conference, The Orthodox Family in a Changing World, in an effort to explore critical issues in the family life-cycle and practical methods to address them in the parish and the home.

Keynote presentations will be offered by His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh; the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Steven Christoforou; and Orthodox blogger and author Elissa Bjeletich.

Through multiple forums, the conference will provide an opportunity for dialogue on topics of elder care, addiction, special-needs families, the effect of technology on relationships, and sexuality. Other activities will include highlights of outstanding family ministry examples across the Archdiocese and a poverty simulation organized by FOCUS North America.

The conference welcomes clergy, pastoral-care workers, ministry leaders, and laypersons interested in the development of family ministry in their parishes. A generous grant from Leadership 100 will aid in funding the event. For more information on the conference schedule, registration and accommodations, visit family.goarch.org. A reduced ‘early bird’ registration rate is offered through July 30th.
