Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos and Local Clergy Gather for Contrition Vespers at Saint Paraskevi in Greenlawn, NY

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos together with clergy and faithful from neighboring communities gathered in the venerable Saint Paraskevi Church in Greenlawn, New York to offer the last Contrition Vespers for Great and Holy Lent. This solemn occasion marks the culmination of weeks of introspection, prayer, and repentance. The community of Saint Paraskevi warmly welcomed their fellow stewards, extending their Christ-Centered hospitality to all in attendance. Throughout Great Lent, the ancient hymns of Sunday Contrition Vespers were beautifully chanted by our wonderful Society of Byzantine Chanters of New York;  "Romanos O Melodos" moving each congregation into a state of deep reflection and devotion. With hearts full of thanksgiving, the clergy and faithful look forward to the joyous celebration of Pascha through Great and Holy Week, the pinnacle of the liturgical year, where the victory of life over death is proclaimed for all eternity.
