Director's Update

Dear Friends,

Q3 of 2023 has been busy months at the Assembly of Bishops. The Executive Committee met in early July and agreed to hold the next Assembly of Bishops meeting in Atlanta, GA from September 28 - October 1, 2024. Atlanteans, Save the Date!

The Liturgy Committee formed a task force, headed by Presbytera Melanie DiStefano, to collaborate with the Orthodox Christian Deaf Assocation on an official American Sign Language translation of the Divine Liturgy. The task force will also work on the accessibility of the Divine Liturgy for people who are blind.

The Church and Society Committee evaluated the results of the AoB's survey on social issues. The survey overwhelmingly indicated gender and sexuality as the top issue for Orthodox Christians in the USA. Accordingly, the Committee began researching the topic in order to best serve the community.

Together with our six Agencies, the Assembly of Bishops participated in the Antiochian Convention in Pheonix Arizona. We were blessed with a visit from Patriarch John of Antioch.

Following a survey on the Assembly of Bishops mobile app features, an app development team was formed. The Team has analyzed the results of the survey and is mapping out the next phase of the app. Stay tuned!

The Inter-Parish Association program began smoothly. Seven (7) regions have expressed interest and are in the process of forming IPAs. Reach out to us if you are interested in more information or hope to form an IPA in your local area.

Finally, the Assembly received a "clean" audit opinion from its biennial (2021/2022) audit. The audited statements can be found on the Assembly's website.

Our projects and ministries are only possible with your support. Please consider becoming a monthly donor (click here).

Prayerfully yours,
