The DRE's Mission

The Department of Religious Education (DRE) joyfully focuses on connecting you to Christ, His Church, and His Grace through practicalancient, and immersive Orthodox teachings for your daily life. We actively enhance this connection and foster spiritual growth by deepening your “grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18), cultivating the inner presence of God.

About the DRE

Established in 1932 by Archbishop Athenagoras of North and South America of blessed memory, as one of the first departments within the Archdiocese, the Department of Religious Education (DRE) is evolving into a trusted and innovative cornerstone of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

The DRE is more than one department; it encompasses four key ministries of the Archdiocese:

1. Religious Education

2. Publishing Arm

3. Orthodox Marketplace — the official online store of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America

4. St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival

The DRE provides resources, programs, publications, and services for everyone of all ages who seek to explore or grow in the Greek Orthodox Faith at the Archdiocese's localmetropolis, and national levels. Leveraging strategic communications, creative design, and digital media, the DRE effectively reaches those who seek to explore and deepen their faith.
