Our Mission Statement: The mission of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh Camp Ministry is to lead young people to Christ in an Orthodox Christian environment where they can learn and experience their faith through education, recreation, worship, fellowship and fun. Working together as committed servants of Jesus Christ under the guidance of our beloved Metropolitan, all those who offer their time, talents and treasures in this ministry are called to do so in harmony for the glory of God.

Camp Weeks:  Each week of camp is attended by a specific range of grades (see poster above). We typically have anywhere between 80-130 campers each week, usually smaller number attend for the younger weeks of camp. Each week is staffed with trained staff members, medical professionals, and Clergy to care for our campers in various sitautions! 

Cost and Financial Aid: Camp costs $675 for one week of camp, which includes all meals and lodging. Please check with your home parish to see if they are offering a Parish scholarship prior to registering your camper for camp. If your parish is not offering a scholarship, the Metropolis, through generous donation of Leadearship 100, is able to offer need-based scholarships. You will find the Metropolis Finanical Aid form HERE. This is to be filled out and emailed prior to registering your child for camp.

Lodging: Campers stay in a our newly renovated cabins that are equipped with central air and heat. There are typically 16 campers to each cabin, along with two to three staff members that will look after and care for them during their week of camp. This however has changed to accomodate covid safety protocols. During registration, each camper will have the opporutnity to list 1or 2 campers they would like to be in a cabin with. Cabin requests should be mutual, and should be within a resonable age/grade range of one another. We do our best to honor requests 

Camp Cards: Camp cards are one-way emails that give parents and families the opportunity to communicate with their camper during the week of camp. For only $10, campers can receive an unlimited amount of emails. If you have more than one camper attending for a summer, you can sign up once and have that cover multiple weeks of camp. Camp cards are delivered to campers during meal times. ***The purchasing of Camp Cards is done during camper registration.

A day at camp: Our days at camp are filled with fun and faith based activities for our campers. A typical day of camp begins with breakfast. We attend two short church services a day at camp, one in the morning after breakfast, and one in the evening after dinner. During the day, our campers have an elective activity period that can include anything from typical sports like basketball, or Gaga ball, to dancing or hiking, or ropes course, to daily consistent activities such as Orthodox Life, Arts and Crafts, and music. During free time, our campers can choose to take a cool swim in our pool, visit the camp store/gift shop, or play games with friends. The evenings are filled with exciting evening activities such as a campfires, a dance, or a carnival!
