Lenten Lectures at Nassau County, New York

The Nassau County Vicariate of the Direct Archdiocesan District offers a series of lectures dedicated to the theme “A Journey to Pascha through the Lenten Sacred Services.” With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the Nassau County Clergy will deliver spiritually edifying and theologically informative presentations covering specific sacred services of Great Lent, such as the Salutations (Χαιρετισμοί), the Great Canon (Ο Μέγας Κανών), the Liturgy of the Pre-Sanctified Holy Gifts (Η Λειτουργία των Προηγιασμένων Τιμίων Δώρων), the Lenten Vespers (O Κατανυκτικός Εσπερινός) and the Great Compline (To Μέγα Απόδειπνο).

The lectures will bring light to the theological and spiritual wealth of the Lenten season, replete with readings, blessings, hymns and traditions that enhance the faithful’s preparation towards the veneration of the Sacred Passion and the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Those interested to attend the presentations and participate in the ensuing discussions, please, call the respective Parishes where the lectures are offered and take advantage of a unique opportunity to enrich the knowledge and the understanding of the most significant and sacred season of the ecclesiastical year. Admission is free and the lectures are sponsored by the Nassau County Vicariate, under the guidance of the Holy Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.
