Bishop-Elect Sevastianos of Zela to be Ordained to the Episcopacy Dec. 17

NEW YORK – Bishop-elect Sevastianos, who was elected Bishop of Zela by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate last week, will be ordained to the Episcopacy by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America on Dec. 17, at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of Holy Trinity in Manhattan. Concelebrating with the Archbishop will be Hierarchs of the Holy Archdiocese of America.

The special services known as Mikro Minima and Mega Minima (the official announcement of election) were held at the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Fanar Dec. 6. Bishop-elect Sevastianos was received by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in the Patriarchal office, were he presented the Mikro Minima. Shortly after the service of Mega Minima was held at the Cathedral of St. George. In the presence of hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne, the Great Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Benjamin read the official decision of the election followed by the reading and signing of acknowledgement, acceptance and gratitude by the newly elected Bishop.

The Ordination will take place during the Divine Liturgy starting at 9:30 a.m. The Archdiocesan Cathedral of Holy Trinity is located at 319 East 74th Street in Manhattan.
