Helen and Archon Louis Nicozisis will each receive an honorary doctorate from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology at the upcoming 82nd Commencement on May 18, 2024. This highest honor the school can bestow will be granted to them for the impact they have made at Holy Cross and across the Archdiocese in the field of missions and evangelism.

On April 6, 2024, the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of Philadelphia and the Greater Delaware Valley presented its Eleftheria Medal to Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, Archon Megas Aktouarios, National Commander of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Eleftheria Medal is given annually in honor of an individual who was perpetuated Hellenism.
Archon Aristotle “Telly” Papanikolaou has been named the University of Chicago Divinity School Alum of the Year for 2024. This honor is being conferred upon recommendation from the University of Chicago Divinity School’s Alumni Council and the Board of Trustees of the Baptist Theological Union. Archon Papanikolaou will deliver his Alum of the Year address at the Divinity School on May 24, 2024.

The 33rd Annual Leadership 100 Conference, which took place February 29-March 3, 2024, at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples in Naples, Florida, concluded with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy officiated by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, assisted by His Eminence Metropolitan Savas of Pittsburgh, His Grace Bishop Sevastianos of Zela, National Chancellor of the Archdiocese V. Rev. Fr. Nektarios Papazafiropoulos and parish priest Fr. Demetrios J. Mott at St. Katherine Church in Naples, Florida on Sunday, March 3. The conference, which saw record attendance of 725 members and guests, commemorated the 40th Anniversary of the Archbishop Iakovos Leadership 100 Fund, according to Demetrios G. Logothetis, Chairman.
Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology is launching the first fruits of The Scriptorium Initiative with a series of Lenten and Holy Week Reflections beginning on Sunday, February 26 involving the full faculty of Holy Cross. Nektarios Papazariopoulos and Chancellor of the Metropolis of San Francisco His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea.
On Sunday, February 4, 2024 Philoptochos spread agape, heart health awareness, and support by wearing red. Philoptochos chapters from across the country in Anaheim, California to Atlanta, Georgia participated.
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate delivered remarks on the pivotal importance of religious freedom and the words and example of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew at the International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit in Washington, D.C. Dr. Limberakis participated in a panel discussion entitled "Law and Religion: Legal Victories & Tools for IRF.” Dr. Elizabeth Prodromou, Visiting Professor in the International Studies Program at Boston College and Vice Chair of the Archon Engagement Committee on Women in Orthodoxy, was the moderator for the discussion.
Demetrios S. Katos has been appointed President of Hellenic College Holy Cross (HCHC). He will start February 1, 2024. He comes to HCHC from Northeastern University, where he is Associate Director of Leadership Giving. He is a higher education professional of 25 years, having also been Dean, Professor of Religious Studies, and Registrar at Hellenic College.

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As so many of you know, today marks a very significant event in the history of the Greek people and the Omogeneia. The invasion of Cyprus by the Turkish army forty-five years ago, the displacement of its citizens who became refugees in their own country, and the forced division of the island remain a grievous injustice to this day. We cannot forget that the Church of Cyprus was founded by the Apostles Paul, Barnabas, and Mark the Evangelist, and that it is a Church, whose autocephaly was decided by an Ecumenical Council (Ephesus 431 AD). This island nation, with over ten thousand years of history, has suffered much at the hands of time, and yet it endures through all manner of trial and tribulation.
Not only as Orthodox Christian brothers and sisters, but as human beings, we must pray for just and speedy solutions for Cyprus. Violence only begets violence, and powers and states that lie beyond its waters must intercede, not interfere, with the lasting peace that only the Cypriot people themselves can achieve.
On this day, when we mourn the loss of life, the destruction of monuments, and the violence that is never a solution for the human family, let us offer more than our prayers, even as we hold dear the memory of those who now lie in eternal rest. Let us engage with those in our circles who are able to help, and encourage trusted partners to offer solutions. As Americans, there is much we can do through our representative government. Cyprus is a moral issue for every person, but how much more so for us who share its faith and even its blood.
May God grant swift and righteous answers for all the people of Cyprus, and grace them with hope, reason, and a national self-interest that leads to peace and prosperity for all.
