MORTON GROVE, Ill. – Fr. John G. Kutulas, 83, who served in Chicago-area churches before retiring in August 1998, died July 2. Born March 7, 1933 in Kansas City, Mo., he attended Socrates Greek American School and public schools in Chicago. He attended Holy Cross School of Theology and earned a Bachelor’s in Theology in 1957. He married Angeline P. Vlahos in December 1957 and was ordained to the deaconate and priesthood at St. Andrew’s Church in Chicago in January and February 1958 by Bishop Ezekiel of Nazianzos.

Fr. Kutulas served the parishes of Sts. Constantine and Helen in Chicago (now in Palos Hills) in 1958-60; Sts. Constantine and Helen in Rockford, Ill., August 1960-January 1967; and St. Andrew in Chicago from January 1973 until his retirement. He is survived by his presvytera and two children, George and Vasiliki. Funeral services took place July 12 at St. Andrew Church with Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago officiating and Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos, parish priest Fr. John Kalomas and clergy from nearly 20 area churches participating.
