PARATHOSI 2019 Youth Dance Festival Celebrated Hellenic Culture and Heritage

NEW YORK – Τhe seventh annual celebration of Hellenic Heritage & Dance, PARATHOSI 2019, took place Jan. 26, at Lefrak Concert Hall at Queens College, in Flushing, N.Y.

His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America attended the program together with His Grace Bishop Andonios of Phasiane, the Chancellor of the Archdiocese. The Archbishop congratulated the participants, the program director Fr. Panagiotis Papazafiropoulos, the parents, the group directors and the many contributors who make this event possible.

PARATHOSI is an important youth ministry of the Direct Archdiocesan District of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that promotes our Heritage and Culture. It brings our youth together and provides a platform for them to showcase their talents and pride in traditional Greek dancing.

In the evening, the Awards Glendi Dinner Dance took place at Terrace on the Park, in Flushing N.Y.  in a wonderful night of dancing and fellowship.

The winners of the competition were announced at the Dinner and are as follows:

Division 3: 1st place: Ksasteria (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center); 2nd place: Archangel Michael Dance Troupe; 3rd place: St. Paul's Greek School (Hempstead); Best Costume: Ksasteria (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center)

Division 2: 1st place: Klironomia (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center); 2nd Place: DGK Dance Troupe, Brooklyn; Best Costume: Klironomia (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center)

Division 1: 1st place: Archangel Michael Dance Troupe; 2nd Place: Hellenic Dancers - Holy Trinity, Staten Island; 3rd Place: St. Paul's GOYA (Hempstead); Best Costume: Archangel Michael Dance Troupe

Senior Division: 1st place: Byzantio (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center); 2nd place: Syntrophia (Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church); Best Costume: Byzantio (Byzantio Greek Dance and Cultural Center)
