On Monday night, November 8, 2021, the first day of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew's return from the United States, President Joe Biden called His All-Holiness to ask about his health and return trip to Constantinople. When the Patriarch thanked him for their recent October 25th meeting at the White House, which had lasted for over an hour, the President responded warmly that it could have lasted a year!
President Biden also said that after their meeting, he met with the Pope at the Vatican, where he happily learned of the very fraternal relationship between the two religious leaders. He also mentioned his meeting with renowned athlete Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is Orthodox. Finally, the President asked that the Patriarch not hesitate to contact him about any matter when the need arises.
